Welcome to Covell Funeral Home

Back in the 1930’s, Covell Funeral Home was known as the Sampson Funeral Home. In 1948 Lance Martinson purchased the funeral home which he operated solely for the next twenty-five years, known as Martinson Funeral Home. In 1973 he entered a partnership with Douglas Covell. After the death of Mr. Martinson in 1974, his wife Ruth continued the partnership until the late 1970’s when Douglas purchased the funeral home from her and the funeral home was renamed the Martinson Covell Funeral Home. In 1983 after Mr. Covell purchased the Elk Rapids Chapel he changed the names to Covell Funeral Home Elk Rapids Chapel and dropped Martinson to rename Traverse City Chapel to the Covell Funeral Home Traverse City Chapel.
